Worry to Wonder

Choose to Be Present.  You can practice interrupting your worry by using this model and asking yourself the following questions in order to move from worry to wonder, from procrastination and lack of focus to effectiveness.  When you understand how your mind functions, you can choose to be the AdultLeader , to be present and fully engaged.  We all worry.  We all have access to the wonder of our grounded, intuitive, creative minds.  We are designed for success.  We can engage this process to reconnect to our power and capability in the moment.

“The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant.
We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift.”

~Albert Einstein

THE MODEL:

THE PRACTICE:

I realize I am feeling worried or anxious, so I…

  1. Stop and ask myself –
    • What am I thinking about?
    • Is my left-brain, analytical mind trying to come up with an answer or solution and the hard data is not available?
[It is likely that I am worried about something in the future or something about another person(s), like…how will I get it done? Will I be able to figure this out? What are they thinking?]
Take a deep breath. Notice myself settling down.
  2. Now ask myself –
    • What do I know about this situation?
    • What do I know about myself in this type of situation?
[What has happened in the past? How has it worked out previously?]
Take a deep breath. Notice myself settling down a little more.
  3. Now ask myself –
    • Is there anything I need to do right now?
Stop and listen for the answer. Whatever it is – go do it right now.

Moving from worry to wonder is a leadership practice that can become a habit.
